Providing Hope in a Sea of Unknowns - Step By Step Consulting
Describe What You’re All About
It all started when…
Growing up through middle school and college, my youngest sister was born and diagnosed with Downs Syndrome. She is a cheerful, outgoing young woman now who loves the Lord and wants to share His love and joy with each person she encounters. As a family, we dug into services for her growth and development. She learned to walk at two years old, and was talking in sentences at eight years old. Every child’s journey is different. This is the story of my sister.
I got to see the therapists come to our home and I attended Dr. visits too, and heard the projected outcomes and newest research. When my sister was six months old, one specialist my parents visited was a Neurodevelopmentalist. The specific home activities they recommended were simple enough each of my sisters’ siblings could implement some of them with her. So, my parents shared a set of activities with each sibling and we had a turn to be her tutor daily. Through this, I learned creativity in teaching, how to make learning fun and how to encourage when the student found the learning challenging.
These activities laid a foundation for development to progress. My sister learned to crawl, creep, and walk. She developed good posture and gait. She became a fluent communicator through speech and is clearly understood by strangers. At times her syntax is a little rough, but she enjoys telling stories about her life, and can tell them accurately with a beginning, middle and end.
Seeing this joyful child emerge into an energetic teen, I set out to see how children in other countries fare with similar diagnoses. Traveling to several continents, I was able to observe first hand, the truth that many children near my home and far from my home, struggle with developmental set-backs and emotional obstacles. They are not all given an opportunity to hope for clear speech and academic interventions that would let them grasp their studies.
This launched me into arduous study under the apprenticeship of ICAN (International Christian Association of Neurodevelopment), and Sound Therapy, Energy-touchpoint work, emotional healing work with Rhythmic Movement therapy. Completing a BA degree in Early childhood with an emphasis in abnormal psychology, and free electives in business and management, I set out to educate parents that they are the best teachers and advocates for their children.
My passion is to equip parents, families and individuals with some specific tools to grow and organize their disoranized Central Nervous System, Metabolism and Energy System to optimize their usable potential! Neuro-plasticity research, microbium research and emotional health strategies have cutting edge systems for restoring, recovering and releasing the often masked person beneath layers of built up coping.
